Taking advantage of opportunities and enjoying what life has to offer

About Me

My name is Jenn, and I am from the Wisconsin - Illinois border, a farmer’s daughter. Two key factors stuck from my childhood: hard work and frequent travels. Work hard to play hard as they say ( focusing on increasing the play hard part of my life :) ).

A few years ago, I graduated from UW Madison and found I didn’t want to use either of my degrees (Spanish & International Studies). After school, I worked in the management side of Food & Beverage. In April of 2012, I packed up and moved away from my fellow Badgers and set off to the West coast with a one way ticket and a couple of hopeful interviews. The spontaneous move panned out as I was hired on day 3 in the city. I love what SF and California in general have to offer, but now I am stepping into a new phase of my life: backpacking on the other side of the world.
Wine Tasting For My 24th BDay

I feel so very blessed for the opportunities that have come my way. In January 2013, as blew out candles for the 24th time, the realization dawned that it’s too easy to get caught in the day to day routine of work and relationships and I am too young to not take advantage of my surroundings. All of the events that happen daily in this city spin in circles around me - all you need to do is jump in for the ride. It’s time to jump and take advantage of today!

I discovered that I am an introvert - and we all know that we live in an extroverted world. In an attempt to make myself go out into the world and experience what it has to offer on a day to day basis, I began this blog to hold myself accountable.

These journies of making each day or week that much more exciting along with getting the most out of my travels will be the bulk of this blog. I will also likely document milestones in my life and accomplishments at work and in training for my first half marathon. I’ll attempt to only blog from my phone when in transit (not sure why I thought that was important). I’ll also try to be honest and candid.

Update: Today is Monday, June 22nd, 2015. After nearly two years absentee from this blogging world, I am returning with exciting news! I quit my job - last Thursday was my final day at work. In the fewest amount of words: I was over working myself and putting my health second. I am taking a few months to babysit and get affairs in order to travel in Southeast Asia for 3-4 months! I leave on October 14th. I can't wait for the journey to begin...
